Firewall
Romans
8:38-39
38. For I am convinced that
neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers,
39.neither height
nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate
us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God's many promises are part
of a firewall between the evil age of this world and the people of God
within His new kingdom.
A fire wall is
designed to stop or slow down the spread of fire between rooms within a
building, especially commercial buildings.
When Jesus Christ
comes to dwell in our hearts and provides us with the gift of the Holy
Spirit He delivers a number of promises along with this gift. He promises
that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing can ever take this gift away
from us.
He promises
that He will never leave us or forsake us or abandon us to the grave.
He promises
to remake us into a new creation and present us spotless, blameless and
pure before His father in heaven on that final day.
These promises
can be likened to a firewall between the world and the people He has chosen
to be part of His new kingdom. This defense is sure and His gift to us
is secure. To accept these promises all we have to do is to accept them
graciously and to trust him and obey Him.
On this
side of that firewall we meet with Jesus as a personal friend and we commune
with him within His sanctuary, the temple of our soul. We are refreshed
each day with His counsel and His guidance to equip us with the armour
of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control, faith, truth and love.
On the world
side of this firewall we take up that armour of God to represent Him and
to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all people.
Just as
a firewall may let a certain amount of fire through so too Satan and his
evil hosts will gain access through that firewall when our faith is weak
and when God sometimes allows satan to test us and in the end make us stronger.
When Satan
wants to hit upon us with the forces of destruction such as sexual immorality,
impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy,
fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions and envy; drunkenness
and orgies be assured that our defense is 100% secure behind the fire wall
of Jesus Christ and His sure promises.
