Pathways

Psalms 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

"God has given us a path to walk on that leads to life eternal which includes many obstacles but also many directional signs that lead us, if we choose to follow them, to the very gates of heaven."

To walk along a narrow muddy path through a swamp or along a narrow path alongside a steep incline requires a major focus on balance, where our next step is going to be and keeping an eye on what's ahead. We have to only momentarily lose our focus and we end up tumbling into the swamp or down the incline.
Our pathways as a christian can be slippery and narrow. Keeping our focus on Jesus is very important. Christ has promised to remake us into a new creation and in that process He prepares for us each day a path for us to walk on. This journey along this prepared path is achievable even with it's obstacles because Christ has promised he will not give us anything we cannot handle and he also gives us clear directional signs along the way.
When Peter walked on the water He took his eyes off Jesus and quickly began to sink. We too when we take our focus off Jesus and his direction for our lives we tumble off the path and into trouble. Just as Jesus reached out His hand to Peter He too reaches out His hand to us and gently sets us back on the path.
Praise God that Jesus in his infinite love always reaches out his hand to place us back on that path. That path that leads to the very gates of heaven and life eternal.
If today you momentarily take your eyes off Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith and you tumble off that path, do not hesitate to ask Jesus to place you back on that path. From one who has tumbled off that same path many times I assure you that He, King of Kings and Lord of Lords will most gently place you back on that path and allow you to continue that most incredible journey of all journeys.
