Truth
John
8:32
"Then you will know
the truth, and the truth will set you free."
The search for
meaning to this life and answers to it's problems can be found only in
the source of all truth, the Holy word of God.
Jesus knew the
truth because He is the source of truth. When He presented the truth of
the Holy Gospel to the Jewish religious leaders they became very defensive.
Many of the Jewish so called religious practices where contrary to the
truth of the Holy word they so piously studied. Jesus took many of those
fabricated self serving so called truths and turned them upside down. Many
Jewish people had their eyes and hearts opened, remarking that they had
never heard anyone preach like this before and accepted Jesus Christ as
the Son of God. The Jewish religious leaders seen their creditability and
position threatened, closed their hearts and eyes and reacted with violence.
The following
are a few of the truths of the gospel Jesus brought to the people to help
them in their walk toward the kingdom of Heaven and away from this evil
age.
-
Love your enemy and bless those
who persecute you.
-
he first shall be last and the
last shall be first.
-
Unless you become like a child
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
-
Wide is the path that leads to
destruction and narrow is the path that leads to life eternal.
-
The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of knowledge.
-
You must be born again.
-
Whoever finds his life will lose
it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
-
In me you will have life but in
the world you will have death.
-
One will die for all.
-
Jesus came as a servant to die
for our sins.
-
He who humbles himself will be
exalted. He who exalts himself will be humbled.
-
Gentiles and Jews will be one people
Once in a while
someone comes into our church community and turns things upside down by
bringing the word of God as it is, the truth, without dressing it up. We
are challenged to not take on such things as lottery tickets, sunday shopping,
materialism, self service, divorce, abortion and pornography as acceptable
social norms and freedoms. We are challenged to move out of our comfortable
pews and be a blessing to our community. We may look upon these preachers
as meddlers and a threat, like Jesus was looked upon by the Jewish religious
establishment and reject the truth.
Christians today
have taken on some of the characteristics of the secular community such
as gambling, sunday shopping, materialism and self first. The secular community
has taken on some of the characteristics of the christian community with
charity, peace and goodwill to others. The result is that we all look the
same. Praise God we have enough committed preachers and teachers
of the truth who come and shake up our diluted and self serving christianity
and set us back on the right path to follow Jesus with heart soul and mind.
Ask Jesus today
to see how far you have wandered into the world and taken on it's lies.
Ask Him to shake you loose. Listen to those teachers of the word, who through
the word of God touch a nerve in your life related to worldliness. Their
goal, as servants of the most high is to to draw you back from wandering
too close to falling overboard and drowning in the sea of this evil age.
Jesus does not
want anyone to suffer eternal separation from God. He is waiting for you
to come into His kingdom today. Seek Him today by reading his Holy Word,
the Bible.
