Holding the Reins

Putting a group of authors in a room and letting them talk is a great idea in theory, but one which benefits from a bit of guidance in practice. The BookFest session moderators have the thankless task of keeping everything on schedule.

Rescheduling

Mary Swan has been shortlisted for the Giller! Because of this, we have to reschedule her reading. She will now be reading on Friday night, in "Books that go Bump in the Night." Visit Guess The Giller and make your guess to win prizes!

Linda Leith - Governor General's Literary Award

Alistair MacLeod - Officer of the Order of Canada - IMPAC Dublin Literary Award

Nino Ricci - Trillium Award. Ricci's book, The Origin of Species, is shortlisted for the Governor General's Award

Diane Schoemperlen won the 2008 Marian Engel Award.

Karolyn Smardz Frost - Governor General's Literary Award

Mary Swan - O. Henry Award, and shortlisted for the 2008 Giller Award

Nino Ricci and Mary Swan are among the 15 authors whose books have been selected to be on the longlist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize

Michael Duben has been honoured as Rotarian of the Year for 2007-2008 by the Windsor-St. Clair Rotary Club.
