These include a special high-contrast style which can be applied to the site's visual styling, rendering the same content in large-print, light-on-dark text. The underlying code has been designed to be semantically sound and handled easily by screen readers and other assistive technologies. Please address any suggestions or concerns regarding the accessibility of this site to the webmaster.
This site also makes use of "access keys" for quick navigation using the keyboard. The access keys are activated by pressing an accelerator key simultaneously with the specified key. Below is a list of access keys used on the BookFestWindsor site:
- Accel + 0 : Site Information (this page)
- Accel + 1 : BookFestWindsor Home Page
- Accel + 2 : Skip to start of page content

The accelerator key is generally Alt on Windows platforms, Ctrl on Linux platforms, and Control or Option on MacOS platforms. On some versions of Internet Explorer, you may need to press Enter after the access key combination to activate the link.

Code
The site's author has built this site to adhere to web standards published by the W3C, including HTML 4.01 Strict, CSS 2.1, and WCAG 1.0. In literary terms, it's the equivalent of using good grammar, proper punctuation, and choosing a typeface everyone can read.
The JavaScript that controls the application of CSS style sheets is modified from the code presented in Paul Sowden's article on alternate style sheets, originally published in Issue 126 of A List Apart. This version incorporates changes to prevent the disabling of style sheets intended for media other than "screen".
The author grants full permission to utilize portions of the underlying HTML, CSS and JavaScript code that make up this site. However, the content of the site, as well as the distinct "look and feel" of the designs, are copyrighted works and may not be directly reproduced.
